After reading the first few chapters of Hoot, what do you think will be the main idea of the book? Give evidence to support your prediction. (at least three things)
After reading the first couple chapters of hoot I think the main idea is lying. I think this because Roy is lying to his parents about chasing the barefoot boy. Also i think this because Dana is lying to his parents about hitting Roy The last reason I think the main idea is lying is because Curly lied about sleeping sense like 5:30 when he was supposed to be watching the Mother Paula's Pancake House site
After reading the first few chapters of Hoot I think the main idea is persistance. One reason is that the vandals keep pulling out the sticks even though Curly calls the cops every time. Another reason is that the vandals are adding new things like the alligators in the Port-A-Potties but are keeping up with the stick thing. My last reason is that Curly keeps calling the cops every time the vandals do something and is not giving up with the calls.

After reading the first few chapters, I think the main idea is vandalism. I think the main idea is vandalism because some people put alligators in some port-a-potties, pulled poles out of the ground and filled the holes twice, and made all the tires on a truck flat.
After reading the first couple chapters of hoot I think the main idea is goin to be persistance(never giving up) three reasons why this is the main idea Is that first of all cuurly wants to find out who is vandalising his property second is tht Roy wants to find out who the boy running is and third because Dana never fives up on bullying on kids on the bus. those r the evidence that supports why persisttance is the main idea :)

Some examples I have that explain why the main idea would be persistance is that first- Roy is starting to get realy involved in trying to figure out all the details and reasons about the barefoooted boy and what he was doing and why he hasn't seen him at school. Second- Dana phisicaly snuck up behind Roy and started to torture him in many many ways and she isn't going to give up on him until she gets her way. thirdly- the parents kept asking Roy what the name of the girl was that caused him harm on the bus and created the marks on his neck and they were not going to give up until they could protect their son. Lastly- the mysterious people who put the crocodiles inside the porta potty didn't give up on what they were doing because they did it to all the porta potties not just one.

Also because the person who's doing the crime is not scared but should be. Finally why isn't the person who put the alligators in the johnies scared.
After reading the first five chapters I think the main idea will be enviormental protection. One reason I think this is because the vandal keeps pulling out the construction site stakes to stop the construction and saving the enviorment thereAnother reason I think enviormental protection is the main idea is that because they put alligators in the porter potties to stop the crewmen from coming. The last reason is that he spray painted the police officers windows so that the cops wouldn't come so he could stop the project.

After reading the first couple chapters I think the theme of this book is curiousity. My evidence to go along with this is that Roy followed the barefoot boy. My other evidence is the Officer looked in the toilet because he heard sound in them. My last piece of evidence is that Roy went to look for the boy and found a bag and opened it and dumped out a pile of snakes. Claire

After I was done reading the first few chapters of Hoot, I thought the main idea is payback because some guys are building on the forest property and doesnt want them to ruin the environment, so the boy with no shoes is training animals to scare off the builders, or trying to cancel the construction.
I think that the main idea of HOOT is caring because...
Roy's parents cared about roy when they saw the marks on his neck. Also, Roy cared about the running boy when he didn't have any shoes, so he gave him an old pair of sneakers.
I think that the syory is mainely about that Mullet Finger had snakes really close to him and then some dogs came running over here and becausr thay got scared they bit him he was in the hospital and then they called Roy's parents and thay thought that it was Roy that was in the hohspital and they gat really worried.
